Jihan Wu is a Chinese crypto billionaire and a prominent figure in the industry. He is the co-founder and chairman of Bitmain, the world’s largest computer chip company for Bitcoin mining. He is also the co-founder of Matrixport, a crypto financial services startup, and Bitdeer, a cloud mining platform that allows users to mine cryptocurrencies without buying or maintaining hardware.
Wu has a dual degree in Economics and Psychology from Peking University, where he developed an interest in Bitcoin and blockchain technology. He was the first person to translate the Bitcoin white paper into Chinese and founded Babite, China’s first Bitcoin community site, with his friend Chang Jia.
Wu is a vocal supporter of Bitcoin Cash, a hard fork of Bitcoin with increased transaction capacity, and has played a key role in the development and adoption of cryptocurrencies. He was named one of the five youngest billionaires in Asia by Forbes in 2020.
