According to The Wall Street Journal, Tesla’s secretive project known as “Project 42” could potentially unveil a glass house intended for Elon Musk himself. The initiative attracted internal attention within the company when a glass order was placed as part of the construction plans. Initially, an internal investigation reportedly focused on Omead Afshar, a Tesla executive overseeing the Texas factory. Tesla’s board also probed into any potential involvement by Musk in the project and sought information on the amount of employee time dedicated to it.
Details regarding the current status of the building project or whether the glass order was fulfilled remain uncertain, as Tesla representatives have not responded to requests for comment. The report highlighted that inquiries sent to Musk’s Tesla email address, as well as messages to Afshar, Tesla’s Chair Robyn Denholm, and other Tesla representatives, yielded no responses. The involvement and current position of Afshar within Tesla also remains unclear.
Concept plans for “Project 42” revealed a striking glass-walled structure located near Tesla’s headquarters in Texas, incorporating various designs and residential elements such as bedrooms. Musk’s interest in expanding his presence in Texas has been previously reported, with plans to develop employee housing in Austin and even establish a town called “Snailbrook” for employees of his other companies. However, the specific connection between these initiatives and “Project 42” remains to be clarified.
As the mystery surrounding “Project 42” continues, speculation lingers about the nature and purpose of this enigmatic endeavor within the Tesla empire.
